Kasane has a unique feature of being a town at the meeting place of four countries, being Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

When travelling to the neighbouring countries, one crosses to Zambia by a river ferry while to Zimbabwe it is by road.

Even though it is the administrative centre of the Chobe area, it lies within the bigger North-West District, whose centre is Maun.

Kasane is found at the heart of a unique Southern Africa water system that includes Victoria Falls, Chobe River and Zambezi River basin.
